SERIAN: Persatuan Kebajikan Mawar Serian recently received a dialysis machine from a generous donor who celebrated his 92nd birthday.

Liew Han Swee, 92, donated the dialysis machine which costed RM43,000 to the only private dialysis centre in Serian, as the association is currently under Persatuan Kebajikan Mawar Kuching.

He also extended his generosity to Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Serian.

Dr Kiu Chiong Chin, chairman of both associations in Kuching and Serian, thanked Liew for his kind donation which is very much needed to accommodate the number of patients.

The centre needs funds to meet its monthly administrative and general expenses. As such, Kiu hopes that more kind-hearted and generous donors would come forward and make the same contributions to lighten the centre’s burdens.

According to the centre’s unit manager Sister Lo Kim Yung, the centre’s staff consist of herself, six trained staff, two nurses, three assistants and a cleaner.

The centre’s opening hours are from 7am to 9pm, from Monday to Saturday, and closed on Sunday.
