KUCHING: The federal government is looking into proposing a ‘compensation’ payment for any unprecedented incidents with regards to Covid-19 vaccination.

Senior Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said this, however, is still at discussion stage as one of the proposed initiatives by the government to take responsibility on adverse events following the national Covid-19 immunisation programme.

It is also a way for the government to show its serious commitment and guarantee over the success of vaccination process.

“The government may consider paying compensation in the event that those who have received the vaccines are directly affected in a way that it causes death, permanent disability or lethal side effects.

“The government will be ready to provide the necessary compensation or remuneration. However, this has yet to be finalised.

“It is one of the matters being discussed at the federal Cabinet stage,” he said when officiating at the Malaysia Prihatin: Management of Covid-19 Pandemic programme held at Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Sarawak building here today.
