KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) can easily win 26 seats in the November 19 general election (GE15).

Political observer Datuk Peter Minos said the state’s ruling coalition can easily win seats in the rural areas where the Bumiputeras are majority voters, but added that it is still too early to make predictions for the five urban seats, especially those in Kuching, Sibu and Miri.

“Urban voters tend to hide their political feelings very well and it is difficult to gauge and predict their preferences but generally all bumi seats will go to GPS,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

Minos expects Amanah will not win any seat in Sarawak because not many people in Sarawak are keen on the party.

He however expects DAP to win four or five seats and the party is banking on the support of urban and Chinese voters in the urban seats.

“By next week we will be able to make a more accurate prediction because if Sarawak voters choose to support “Sarawak First” then it is likely that DAP will lose all the seats it is contesting. This may happen,” he said.

He predicts that PAS will maintain its winless record. Since the beginning PAS has not been accepted in Sarawak because it is considered an extremist party.

“PAS is not saleable in Sarawak since day one because the people are against religious extremists,” added Minos.
