GPS eyeing all 31 including Selangau

BINTULU: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is placing high hopes on winning all 31 parliamentary seats, including the opposition held Selangau seat in the coming 15th General Election (GE15).

“We need to win back the Selangau parliamentary seat in order to secure all 31 seats,” said Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai during the opening of Rumah Gundi Nanga Bibau in Tatau on Saturday.

In GE14 held in 2018 , Baru Bian contested the seat under a Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket and won by a vote margin of 486.

He polled 11,228 votes to edge the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Rita Insol who garnered 10, 742 votes.

Sikie who is also Kakus assemblyman said in GE15, voters must therefore cast their voters wisely as it will determine their future.

At the event ,he also pledged a total of RM60,000 from his Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation to Rumah Gundi specifically RM50,000 to the longhouse Village Development and Security Committee and RM10,000 to its Women’s Bureau.
