GPS listens more to the people – Willie

PADAWAN: Puncak Borneo candidate Datuk Willie Mongin said the experience he had with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), then Bersatu and now with Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is very different.

“I think GPS is a more responsible political party. Their leaders listen to the people voices and the people well, they don’t just talk and promise but they implement and fulfill as we have seen many that have already been fulfilled, even the issue of Malaysia Agreement 1963 is also taken seriously looked into by GPS.

“That was GPS great achievement for Sarawak and the people,” said Willie to newsmen after his election campaign at the Bengoh Dam Resettlement Scheme, Jalan Semadang-Jambusan here last night.

Willie said he was very excited when he first attended the PBB Supreme Working Council Meetin where he saw how discipined the members discuss matters arise at the meeting.

Asked about the momentum of the campaign, Willie appealed to the voters to give him another chance to represent them in parliament.

He added that he was very grateful because the three members of the State Assembly (ADUN) Tarat Datuk Raland Sagah, Mambong Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and Serumbu Miro Simuh are campaigning day and night with him.

“The momentum of the campaign is good at the moment but I appeal to the voters of Puncak Borneo to see our determination and sincerity to bring progress to the constituency and the people,” he said.

He said, the reception received from the people during the campaign are good.

“However we cannot be complecent, we also need to be careful because we need to be kind to the voters which can be translated into votes.

Earlier in his ceramah Willie explained why is left PKR to join Bersatu in the Perikatan Nasional government and later applied to join PBB.

Willie said he left PKR because he could no longer work with the party leaders who he claimed ignoring and firing the Dayak elected representatives including former PKR Sarawak chairman Baru Bian.

He also explained that he need to be in the government in order to get fund and projects for the people, adding that within four years he has been able to bring several big projects to Puncak Borneo constituency, like the new modern Siburan Health Clinic, new Sekolah Kebabgsaan Taba Sait, telco towers, village and farm roads and other minor rural projects.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Deputy Transport Minister, who is also Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the GPS government through the “Greater Kuching” initiative wants to develop the Puncak Borneo area with various socio-economic projects.

He added that the main thrust will be the agriculture, eco-tourism tourism, small and medium industries.
