KUCHING: Eateries that provide dine in vehicle services with in-house utensils are advised to discontinue doing so as it is against the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Eateries that continue to provide such services will be compounded for violating the regulations under the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said serving food with in-house utensils and trays for customers to eat in their vehicles or a vehicle provided by the premises did not comply with the SOPs.

He said that a premises in Miri was recently compounded for providing such services.

“Therefore, other premises are advised to halt providing dine-in vehicle (with in-house utensils) services or face compound actions from authorities.

“It is not an offence and no compounds will be issued if customers order takeaways and eat in their own vehicles without customer service (i.e. without the premises employee delivering meals with in-house utensils to the vehicles and retrieving them once the food is eaten),” Aidi said when contacted.
