Harden declares open RM10mln-ship

KUCHING: A ceremony to officiate at the EE No. 1 ship was held at the private pier of Ngee Tai Gravel Industries Sdn Bhd at Jalan Pasir Panas, Simanggang.

Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis officiated at the ceremony on Saturday (Aug 22).

In his speech, Harden congratulated and expressed his appreciation towards the successful construction of a new ship owned by three entrepreneurs, namely Ting Lik Sing, Lau Chin Peng and Ngu Tze Kion who had formed EE Tai Shipping Sdn Bhd.

“The ship was built at a cost of RM10 million by the shipbuilding company Tai Tong Hing Marine Sdn Bhd based in Sibu with a construction period of one year.

“The ship with a capacity of 4,600 tons of sand and stone is the third largest ship to have ever anchored in Simanggang Town,” said a statement issued on Saturday (Aug 22).

Also present were Datuk Seri Tang Tiong Tai, owner of Tai Tong Hing Marine Sdn Bhd, community leaders and Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) council members among others.
