KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib received a courtesy call from the consul general of Malaysia to Istanbul Tengku Mohd Dzaraif Raja Abdul Kadir and his wife, Noor Lily Mohamed Zaidel in Demak Jaya, Petra Jaya yesterday.

During the meeting, Tengku Mohd Dzaraif informed Abdul Taib about the opportunities that could be explored, especially to promote Sarawak in the field of cultural and economic and identify collaborative activities between the state and Turkey.

The consulate together with Tourism Malaysia in Istanbul always hold meetings with travel agencies there to promote tourism, especially interesting locations that can be visited in Sarawak.

Tengku Mohd Dzaraif also said that recently the government has announced the recognition of universities in Turkey and this will open up new destinations and opportunities for students from Malaysia, especially Sarawak, to continue their studies in Turkey.
