KUCHING: The launch of the state-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign, themed ‘Malaysia Prihatin’, at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here on Tuesday (July 28) was a high-spirited one.
Launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, the ceremony was attended by numerous Cabinet ministers and assistant ministers, heads of departments and invited guests.
The event kicked off with a livestream of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s giving his address at the national-level launch of the programme in Putrajaya.
When the national anthem ‘Negaraku’ and the Sarawak anthem ‘Ibu Pertiwiku’ were sung, frontliner representatives stood on stage – a fitting acknowledgement of frontliners’ contributions and sacrifices during the challenging period of battling the Covid-19 pandemic.
There was a feeling of national pride in the air as attendees waved their Malaysian flags while ‘Jalur Gemilang’ played from the speakers, resounding through the DUN’s lobby.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the flagging off of the Jalur Gemilang convoy by the Chief Minister at the foyer. This was followed by the handing over of the Jalur Gemilang to representatives of federal and state departments and agencies.
Overall, it was a vibrant ceremony to mark the upcoming national celebrations and instil a sense of patriotism.
