MIRI: A 27-year-old house contractor was left with head injuries after he was assaulted in a pub in Permyjaya in the wee hours today while celebrating his birthday with friends.
Also injured in the 1.10am incident was one of his friends.
According to Miri police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah, the man and a few friends came to the pub around 11pm on Wednesday to celebrate his birthday.
“Two hours later, while they were celebrating and drinking, the victim was hit at the back of his head by a blunt object thrown by an unknown person inside the pub,” said Lim.
One of the victim’s friends was also injured on the forehead after an unknown individual threw a chair at them.
“Fearing for their safety they fled the pub and rushed to a police station to lodge a report,” said Lim.
So far, no suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police are still investigating. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
