KOTA BHARU: National woman solo runner Honorary Major Dr Suwaibah Muhammad Nasir is in need of US$1 million (about RM4 million) to enable her to complete the Humanitarian Tour to Conquer 30 World’s Tallest Towers.

She said the funds were needed to cover the high costs of accommodation, airline tickets, visa applications and related matters to complete the mission.

“So far, I have received sponsorship from GISB Holding Sdn Bhd and several other parties for the mission to 14 countries, but they only provide sponsorship in the form of air tickets and accommodation.

“I foresee that I will be able to conquer four towers each month but this is subject to approval of the authorities in the different countries,” she told reporters at ‘Meigho’ telemovie premiere which was officiated by Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu who is also patron of the Humanitarian mission.

Also present was Meigho telemovie director Zack Zaideen. This thriller movie is the inaugural work of ZZ Karya Production Sdn Bhd.

Elaborating Suwaibah who hails from Kampung Lubuk Rotan Tawar, Tanah Merah, said she would try to complete the Southeast Asian leg of the solo run and at the same time submit her application to the designated countries.

“I will proceed with countries with less bureaucratic problems first by going through government to government cooperation with the involvement of non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“I hope to take on the 540-metre high Ostankino Tower in Moscow soon. This is the highest telecommunication tower in Russia,” she said.

Meanwhile, Zack said the ‘Meigho’  telemovie premiere was aimed at helping to raise funds towards the mission as well as to introduce the solo runner to the community. – Bernama
