MIRI: Police have detained a local man for alleged domestic abuse.

The suspect, aged 40, was picked up from his home in Senadin by a team of crime busters from Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at 9.20pm, after receiving a report filed by his wife over the alleged abuse on Friday.

The suspect had reportedly gone berserk after his 24-year-old wife had asked him to look after their children that evening as she wanted to do some domestic chores.

It was alleged that the husband had smacked his wife causing injuries to her head and body.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
