Husband held for injuring spouse

MIRI: Another report about a man allegedly hurting his wife was received by the police.

This case involved a couple in a longhouse at Sekaloh, Niah last Thursday (June 2).

The alleged incident was said to have occurred around 10.45pm and it was reported to the police by the longhouse chief, locally known as ‘tuai rumah’.

Acting on information, a team from Batu Niah police station went to the scene and arrested the 40-year-old suspect on suspicion of injuring his wife.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said they were informed by the ‘tuai rumah’ that one of the residents had been injured by her husband. 

The suspect is currently placed in Batu Niah police lock-up for further action.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
