Immigration officials visit Curtin University Malaysia

MIRI: Sarawak immigration officials paid a courtesy visit to Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) here, recently.

The delegation, led by their state director of Abdul Halim Abang Naili, was welcomed by Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, who is chair of Curtin Malaysia’s Management Committee; Pro Vice-Chancellor, president and chief executive Professor Simon Leunig; and chief operating officer Sharon Chong.

Other members of the delegation were assistant director of Immigration Yusdi Morshidi; head of Development Mohamad Jamjuma Jaya; head of Miri Division Immigration Abang Mat Noor Abang Abdul Samat; assistant head of Miri Division Immigration Mohamad Sopian Abdul Nasip; Visa, Pass & Permit Unit officer-in-charge, Miri office Dennis Linggie; Miri Expatriate Services Division (ESD) officer Andika Tukiran; ESD supervisor Azmee Amin; and Student Pass Unit supervisor Yusdi Sarimi.

According to Curtin Malaysia, the visit centred around crucial discussions on student visa matters, reinforcing the commitment to facilitating a seamless experience for international students.

The delegation engaged in insightful conversations with the Curtin Malaysia representatives, exploring avenues for streamlining visa processes to enhance the overall experience of students coming to pursue their education at the institution, Curtin University’s largest global campus and hub in Asean.

“This collaborative effort underscores the dedication to foster positive ties between educational institutions and the immigration authorities.

“Curtin Malaysia remains committed to maintaining strong partnerships with relevant government bodies, ensuring that students have the necessary support and resources to thrive in their academic pursuits,” it said in a statement today.
 
In addition to the discussions, the delegation enjoyed an informative tour of the Curtin Malaysia campus which provided an opportunity for the university to showcase its state-of-the-art facilities and the conducive learning environment that it offers to its diverse student community.
