KUCHING: Sarawak Immigration Department enforcement officers are continuing their statewide campaign against foreigners employed without valid work permits and travel documents.

Their latest focus on Monday (Jan 22) was on Kuching with a series of raids codenamed ‘Ops Gegar,’ ‘Ops Selera,’ and ‘Ops Jaja,’ on reflexology centres and eateries throughout the city, spanning from 10 am to 9.20 pm.

Acting on tips from the public, they inspected 61 individuals of diverse foreign nationalities at targeted locations.

Thirteen were arrested for immigration-related offences as they were found without relevant permits and travel documents.

The arrests were carried out under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

Immigration officials are not letting up their operations and stressed that they will continue to take action against foreigners working without valid documents, warning employers against hiring these foreigners.
