BINTULU: To cater the spiritual needs of Hindus, the Bintulu India Association (BIA) has announced plans to construct a temple in the Tanjung Batu area.

BIA president Dr. Sivashunmugam Sangaran revealed the plans during the association’s Deepavali Night celebration held at a local hotel recently.

“This is our (BIA) effort to build a temple here, in 2024,” he said, outlining BIA’s strategy to organise various activities for fundraising and to seek support from the government and local representatives for the temple’s construction.

The proposed temple aims to serve as a cultural and religious hub, ensuring the preservation and celebration of Hindu traditions in the face of rapidly changing societal currents. To this end, he called upon association members to strengthen their bonds and uphold their customs and culture.
