SERIAN: The construction of the Industrial Training Institute (ILP) here, which is now 85 percent completed, is expected to be operational by early 2024.
Serian incumbent Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem said once completed, the institute will benefit the youth and produce a highly skilled workforce.
“This will definitely benefit Serian because there will be 600 students per intake there and the courses will be similar with other ILPs in the country,” he said after officiating at the launching of the GPS Women election machinery at Dewan Sri Riot, Kampung Pitchin here, recently.
He added that any nation that aspires to be developed must also produce a skilled workforce.
Currently, there are 32 of such institutes in the country, including one each in Kota Samarahan and Bintulu.
ILP Serian is located on a 57-acre site along the Serian-Kampung Tangga Road and is being built at a cost of RM260 million.
On another note, he said there is an urgent need to build the SK Sri Sadong primary school and SMK Serian No 2 to cater for the growing needs of the division.
