International Energy Week Expo & Summit in June

KUCHING: The 5th edition of the International Energy Week (IEW) Expo & Summit will take place at the Borneo Convention Centre here from June 13-15.

Hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability and supported by Business Event Sarawak, it is expected to attract 200 exhibitors and 5,000 trade visitors.

After a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the IEW 2023 will focus on the theme ‘Transitioning Towards A Net-Zero Carbon Future’.

“The event will showcase Sarawak’s initiatives in harnessing its sustainable energy resources to position itself as a major clean energy hub.

“The expo has attracted major players in the energy sector, including Shell Sarawak, Technip, Petronas, SEDC Energy, Sarawak Energy Berhad, and many more.

“Pavilions from China, Singapore, and Malaysia will also be present to showcase various innovations, technologies, and initiatives towards a clean and sustainable future,” the organisers said in a press release yesterday (March 21).

Tech Talks and Town Hall meetings will be new features at the IEW 2023.

The Tech Talks will feature presentations on emerging technologies and innovations, while the Town Hall meetings will provide a platform for interaction and information sharing on the clean energy sector for student groups.

The IEW 2023 Summit will feature over 20 speakers and panellists, including the Energy Leaders’ Roundtable, Sarawak Investment Roundtable and the Focus on Indonesia Roundtable.

“These sessions will provide updates on the latest developments and opportunities in the clean energy sector, as well as networking opportunities with the speakers and panellists.”
