KUCHING: Big industries in Sarawak need to see the direction of the state government so that they can work together to fulfil the green agenda in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PDCS 2030), said Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

The Deputy Premier said among others, the state was now focusing on renewable energy such as solar energy, hydrogen and hydroelectricity.

“As we can see, Sarawak has a lot of progress that is being implemented including carbon storage, solar energy and so on.

“By 2030, we need to achieve 200,000 jobs because only Sarawak has that kind of progress in place.
“Therefore, we need a lot of investment, in addition to increasing the number of manpower to meet the needs of the sector for the purpose of more efficient state development,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the 133rd Anniversary Gala Night of the Kuching Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI) at the Pullman Hotel on Friday night.

Furthermore, he said that Sarawak earned a total of RM6 billion revenue in 2018 and had seen an increase of RM12 billion last year.

“However, this year alone we have reached almost the same value as last year as far as the first six months.

“This is all the result of political stability under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, in addition to the commitment of cooperation of all.

“Therefore, I call on everyone to come together in continuing to help Sarawak become a developed state by 2030,” he said.
