MIRI: Junior Chamber international Miri (JCI Miri) successfully held its annual general meeting (AGM) last Sunday.

To uphold the purpose and vision of the Junior Chamber International, Candy Yong, the newly elected president, called on members who have joined the organisation to actively learn and know about the Junior Chamber international.

“When you get to know JCI, it will help you grow as a person, and learn how you can help the community through JCI. So come and join us at every training course and other events, big or small. Let us be better people, growing together as a team,” she said.

She first joined JCI in 2014 after being introduced by her cousin Alex Yong.

At first, she was not very active in JCI because she did not have a proper understanding of JCI.

“This year, under the leadership of our president Nicholas Toh and the 2022 board of directors and the past president of JCI Miri, I got to know JCI more and I fell in love with this international organisation.”

Of course, the very important reason is that there are very lovely people in JCI Miri, she said.

This year JCI Miri has a very strong, vibrant and enthusiastic board of directors, which is now called Brothers and Sisters. All these people aside, she has seen the power of this organisation, a platform on which we can grow both internally (heart, mind, organs) and externally (skin, hair).

The new directors of the association are expected to hold an inauguration ceremony for the new directors in March 2023.

The following is the newly elected 2023 board of directors:

Nicholas Toh Kah Shiong; Secretary: Michelle Toh Fong Ming; Treasurer: Ella Tan Ming Lee; General legal counsel: Tommy Ling Siaw Seng; vice president (Individual): Kho Yap Hong; vice president (Business): Owen Choo Chin Wen; vice president (Community): Valerie Seo Poh Ching; vice president (International): Stevenson Tan Jin Heng; Commission director (Personal Development & Membership growth): Phyllis Poh Yi Ning; Commission director (Record & Recognition): Ting Mei Na; Commission director (Chapter & Entrepreneurship Development): Basil Tiong Kwong Hook; Commission director (Economic Affairs): Cielyne Anak Dominic; Commission director (Children & Youth Activities): Chelsea Lowrance; Commission director (Community Development): Yong Jia Yi; Commission director (Marketing & Public Relations): Foo Tun Jun; and Commission director (International Affairs): Angeline Toh Yee Shuen.
