MIRI: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued 90 non-compliance notices against motorists for various offences and confiscated four vehicles in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Khas Motosikal’ last night (Apr 17).

The five-hour operation, led by JPJ Miri Operation Unit, took place along KM5, Jalan Miri-Bintulu from 7 pm to 12 midnight.

Among the offences detected were driving without a license, possessing expired licence and road tax, lacking insurance coverage, failing to display licence plates as per specifications, and other technical offences such as installing accessories that pose a safety risk.

In addition, the unit also confiscated two motorcycles, a car, and a pick-up truck due to expired road tax.

The department stressed that the operation was aimed to detect and deter various offences committed by road users while, promoting compliance with traffic regulations.

It is also to ensure road safety for all users and raise awareness among motorists, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and fatalities.
