KABONG: The plight of a Form Five student of SMK Kabong here has finally caught the attention of Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir.

Raj Amirul Ramli, 17, who will be sitting for his Sijil Pelajaran  Malaysian (SPM) examination this year is the son of a single mother.

The third child among five siblings, he is currently staying with his mother, who is a housewife without a stable income after the passing of her husband several years ago.

Raj’s mother depends on the meagre income from her oil palm garden and wages earned from some tailoring jobs to support her family.

Raj’s plight came to light when he suddenly fell unconscious in class and had to be rushed to the hospital where he was discovered to be suffering from brain haemorrhage.

“Ever since that incident, the once active young boy cannot take part in many activities.”

He has undergone surgeries on his head and neck at the Sibu Hospital and is scheduled, depending on his health, to undergo  a third surgery soon.

Ever since he fell unconscious in class, Raj has not been able to go to school because of his health problem.
