Kapit CCC gets RM10,000 grant

KAPIT: Bukit Goram Assemblyman, Jefferson Jamit Unyat officiated  at the 20th Installation Ceremony of Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce (Kapit CCC) and Dinner held at Happy Garden here, recently.

More than 180 Kapit CCC members and committee members of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak and its president Hu Yu Siong and president of Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr Hii Sui Cheng attended the function.

Jamit in his speech congratulated the new board members who have been given the trust by the members to run and manage the chamber for the 2017 to 2018 term. He was optimistic that the committee led by its president Ling Hang Pin would succeed.

He said Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce has been in existence for 38 years and has been progressing well under the various chairmen and made its presence felt and relevant to the people of Kapit in general.

“I called on Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce to rise up and shoulder the responsibility as the community champion and advocate for business and also need to leverage the talents and resources of its members’ businesses to improve the economic opportunities for all. The chamber needs to play a more significant role in the community and that is leadership role. Kapit CCC should also work closely with the various government departments and agencies to provide inputs, constructive ideas and suggestions to bring further development to Kapit.

“The State Government is working towards the Digital Economy and this is where Kapit CCC should show its support to remain relevant and make its present felt,” Jamit said.

During the function, Jamit also announced a government grant of RM10,000 for Kapit CCC to run its activities.

Earlier Jamit and president of ACCCIS, Hu Yu Siong, witnessed the installation ceremony of the new committee led by Ling Hang Pin.

The new committee line-up are Sii Bang Ee as deputy president, vice-president Dong Chan Kiat, Lin Kong Sie as the secretary, Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo as the treasurer who will be assisted by Wong Kei Wei.

The committee members are Ting Hwa Kong and Nelson Sia Ee Hui (general affairs), Tiong Ping and Penghulu Wong Ke Ing (business and commerce), Andy Teo Tian Chai (children and education), Dato Yong Hua Sying (community service), Ngieng Hock Chuan (youth and sports) and Kong Hock Ping (social welfare).

ACCCIS president Hu Yu Siong and the organising chairman Lin Kong Sie also spoke at the function.

Among those present were Temenggong Tan Kian Hoo, Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh and Kapitan Kong Cheak Hee.
