KUCHING: The people of Kapit are reminded to strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) which begins today.
Kapit assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang said strict compliance was necessary to ensure the district remained a green zone.
“Even though the federal government has laid out the guidelines for the transportation sector, our state has its own regulations for boat operators,” he said when met by reporters at the DUN complex yesterday.
Wilson, who is also the Kapit divisional SDMC coordinator, said boat operators who wished to operate must inform the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) or State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
Meanwhile, according to the SOPs by the State Transport Ministry for boat operators during the CMCO period, the operation of passenger boats in full capacity would be decided and announced by the SDMC at an appropriate time.
It said in case of emergencies, passenger boats were allowed to carry two more passengers on board after obtaining approval from SRB.
Further, the SOP stated that those allowed to enter the boat terminal were passengers, SRB staff, boat operators, boat drivers and crew, porters and ticketing agents.
It said all must put on face masks and those with body temperature above 37.5 degree Celsius were not allowed on board.
