BAU: The provisional lease in Kampung Stenggang will be withdrawn to give way to the development of a village expansion scheme (SPK) here.

According to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the said village is very crowded as they have over 6,000 village folk residing here.

“I see that this village has become too crowded for the people here. So we will expand the village to be more structured by withdrawing the provisional lease.

“As such, this area will become similar to modern villages and will be another ‘pekan’ along Bau to Lundu route.

“However, we will need to identify the area first, and do the expansion scheme after so that the second generation here will have their own house.

“Moreover, they will also be able to build their houses using affordable houses for the B40 and M40 scheme,” he said, adding that the expansion of the village will have a similar SPK concept with Sg Bedaun, Kemuyang, and so on.
