KUCHING: The Kuching branch of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) will host a celebration to commemorate its 64th anniversary and express gratitude to its founding predecessors for their contributions.

During a press conference today (June 10), the Publicity and Information secretary of Kuching branch SUPP Peter Pui said the anniversary celebration and gratitude night are scheduled to take place on June 29 at 6.30pm at the Joyous Shanghai Restaurant.

“The primary objective of this evening banquet is to pay tribute to the visionary spirit of the party’s founding members, who laid the foundation for its establishment and growth.

“The event also aims to acknowledge their outstanding leadership, which has played a pivotal role in shaping the party’s trajectory.

“Respected leaders are warmly invited to attend and partake in this joyous gathering,” he said.

Pui expressed his admiration for the older members of the Kuching branch, who, despite no longer holding positions within the branch due to their advanced age, continue to wholeheartedly support the party.

Their wisdom and valuable opinions, he said, are considered indispensable, providing invaluable guidance and strategic insights that enable the party to remain steadfast in serving the people and realising its founding principles and objectives.

Highlighting the historical significance of the Kuching branch, Pui mentioned that it is the second-oldest branch after Sibu, which was formed on June 29, 1959.

“This year’s celebration marks the 64th anniversary, and approximately 100 members, including retired and veteran members, will be invited to attend.”

Pui further emphasised the importance of unity among all party members, urging them to work together to cultivate a positive political atmosphere. By addressing the concerns of the people and striving for the betterment of the community, the Kuching Branch of SUPP aims to be a strong advocate for the voiceless and ensure their interests are represented.
