Bomba photos show the collapsed Nanga Tisa Bridge scene after landslide.

KAPIT: The Nanga Tisa Bridge, which connects two longhouses, collapsed due to a landslide at Sungai Yong, Jalan Bukit Goram, this morning (Mar 4).

The bridge, used by residents of Rh Roland Stork and Rh Ngelai to access the main road, was badly damaged.

Although the exact number of residents affected by the incident is not known, it is believed that the residents relied on the bridge for transportation.

Upon receiving a distress call at 7.34 am, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched firefighters from the Kanowit station to the scene, about 21 km away.

Upon arrival, the team confirmed that the collapse was likely due to the heavy downpour in the area, which had caused a landslide.

Despite the severity of the situation, the team did not conduct any rescue or evacuation operations. Instead, they placed roadblock signs to alert surrounding residents to be cautious when passing through the area.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant about the condition of the rubble and to avoid taking any action until assistance arrives at the scene.
