Limbang residents told to continue supporting devt agenda

LIMBANG: The people here are called upon to continue supporting the development agenda in realising the Sarawak’s government vision of a prosperous and high-income state by 2030.

Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said various efforts have been made under the leadership of the Premier to further advance development in the state.

“This year, it is highly likely that after the negotiations to take over MASwings from Malaysia Airlines, Sarawak will soon have its own airline.

“In the future, in addition to Sabah and Sarawak, MASwings will expand its wings internationally,” he said.

Abdul Rahman said this in his speech at the opening of the Malam Ba’iuh Makan Tahun Pertama 2023, organised by the Kedayan Association of Limbang in collaboration with the Limbang Division Resident’s Office held here recently.

He added that the Sarawak government is also in the process of taking over the Bintulu Port and other ports in the state, as well as striving to generate the state revenue through its various renewable sources of energy.

Meanwhile, on the programme, he said it is among one of the events on the calendar of the Limbang District Main Celebration Committee.

He said various events have been organised in Limbang which includes the Nuba Laya Festival for the Lun Bawang community, the Badadudun and Buffalo Race for the Bruneian-Malay community, the Babulan Festival for the Bisaya community and the Medamit Festival for the Iban community.

Additionally, he said that upcoming events include the Chinese Cultural Festival, International Tug of War Championship, Youth Day, and Limbang Bike Week in the coming months.
