Lions Clubs International visits local counterparts

SIBU: The current Lions Clubs International director Jeff Huang Changwei from China was here yesterday (Mar 2) to pay a courtesy call on his local counterparts.

He led his delegation of 15 members from three Lions Clubs, namely Guangdong Ling Nan Lions Club, Shengyang Lions Club and Shaanxi Lions Club.

Flying in from Kuala Lumpur for a similar visit, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the governor of Lions Clubs District 308A-2 (Sabah, Sarawak & Brunei) Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua and her cabinet members as well as Lions Clubs members in District 308-A2.

Among others, the courtesy call was also aimed at fostering closer relationships with the Lions Clubs members and exchanging of ideas.

While here, the delegation would be taken to visit two local tourism spots, Sibu Heritage Centre and Sibu Eng Ann Teng Tua Pek King temple.

Speaking during the courtesy call over a luncheon at Tanahmas hotel, Loh stated she has known Huang since 2007.

According to her, from an ordinary member, Huang picked up the challenges and moved up to top leadership role as the Lions Clubs International director for year 2022-2024 “We are proud and happy for his success. Today we are blessed with the unique honour of having him to be with us in Sibu.

“We are grateful to him for taking his time and sharing his leadership with us. We thank him, and appreciate all he has done for the Lions and for changing lives.

“He has influenced many in such a position way, and is truly an inspiration for us to emulate,” Loh enthused.

Past Council chairman of Lions Clubs Multiple District 308 (Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei) Cheng Yik Siong and Lions Clubs District 308-A2 cabinet secretary Terrence Chen were among those in attendance.
