KUCHING: Sarawakians are advised against engaging in negative issues that could create disharmony and spawn conflicts.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state’s economy has
grown steadily mainly because of the close cooperation of the
different races and religions in the state.

“Therefore it is very important for us to preserve this unity for our future generations,” he said at the launch of Kuching
Festival 2019 themed ‘Happy Kuching’ at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Theatre last night.

The chief minister’s text of speech was read by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Abang Johari called on Sarawakians to continue respecting each other saying, “The state government has always made efforts to organise various
occasions such as the ‘open house’ to bring Sarawak’s multi-racial society closer.”

He said with peace and  harmony, the task of developing the state has been greatly facilitated.
