Lorry driver issued summonses for power outage incident

KUCHING: Traffic police have issued seven summonses against a lorry driver for causing a power outage in Kampung Santubong yesterday (Mar 25).

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said they received a complaint on the incident at 11.30 am.

The lorry had struck an electrical cable which resulted in the disruption of power supply throughout Kampung Santubong.

Acting on information, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division located the lorry driver and issued seven traffic summonses for various offenses committed.

He added that the lorry has been impounded under Section 60(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for further actions.

Upon examination, it was revealed that the lorry driver’s company had been operating for six months by transporting soil to construction sites around the village.
