KUCHING: Discussions on the restoration of Sarawak’s rights enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are still ongoing between the state government and the federal government.

In revealing this, Sarawak Attorney General, Datuk Saferi Ali said this involves many details such as legal and administrative aspects.

“It means that the federal government has listened to our demands, and we will continue to implement this matter and push for the federal government to take into account the Sarawak government’s perspective,” he said.

He said when met by reporters after a courtesy call to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri Sarawak here, on Thursday.

Saferi said the Sarawak government has notched numerous achievements in the fight to restore eroded rights under MA63.

“We also continue to address the issue of powers between the state and the federation that we still demand to be returned,” he said, adding that such will be further deliberated in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly.
