BINTULU: Federal Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang, has called upon the rural community to maintain their support for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the forthcoming Jepak by-election scheduled for Nov 4.

Kota Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang, stressed the importance of unwavering support for the state government led by GPS to ensure sustainable development.

Rubiah said that there is still a considerable amount of development to be carried out throughout Sarawak, and she believes that this can be achieved by extending steadfast support to the government.

“We still have a significant amount of development and ongoing improvements to public facilities.

“Even though we may feel that GPS is poised for victory, it’s vital not to be complacent. Instead, let us fulfill our responsibilities and secure a victory for GPS in the upcoming Jepak by-election,” she added.

She said this in her speech at Program Khidmat Komuniti Desa Cerdas at Rumah Delan Untar at Kuala Serupai, Jalan Kuala Tatau-Balingian here on Saturday.

On the programme, she highlighted that the Community Development Department (KEMAS) aims to bring about a paradigm shift for the rural population, particularly in transforming the lives of the community.

“This involves enhancing the economic status of rural communities through various skill development programmes, including cooking, sewing, and crafts.

Rubiah emphasised that programmes organised by KEMAS not only offer opportunities for individuals to acquire new skills but also assist them in establishing income-generating activities in their daily lives.

“There are numerous programmes and activities implemented by KEMAS, and their role and responsibility are significant in advancing rural communities through positive changes.

“This includes entrepreneurship development programmes, where we impart skills to rural communities, such as food production and beauty services,” she added.
