Tellian branch marks 50th anniversary of SABERKAS

MUKAH: Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Tellian branch recently organised the Youth Talent Programme (SABERKAS Queen) and Rampaian Dance Competition at Pehin Setia Raja Square, here.

It was held in conjunction with the 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration of SABERKAS and the Mukah Christmas Festival 2023.

For SABERKAS Queen, students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Mukah and Sarawak Skills Development Center (PPKS) Mukah participated.

Shera Lida Minchong from UiTM Mukah clinched the title of SABERKAS Queen, followed by Perpetua Leman in second place, also from UiTM Mukah, and third place was secured by Asyira Syasya Razak from PPKS Mukah.

Meanwhile, there were two categories for the Rampaian Dance Competition, namely primary and secondary schools, with three primary schools and two secondary schools participating.

In the primary school category, Tellian National School (SK) emerged as the champion, followed by SK Sungai Duan as the first runner-up, and SK Dua Sungai in third place.

The secondary school category was won by St Patrick National Secondary School (SMK), with SMK Oya as the runner-up.

“The objective of this programme is to unearth the abilities of youth in communication and self-confidence when faced with an audience.

“Additionally, it aims to provide exposure and skills to develop cultural arts and heritage, fostering pure values and promoting tolerance among various ethnicities during the activities.

At the same time, the programme aims to discover talent in dance arts and elevate that talent to a higher level.
