Major expansion plans for Agrofest 2024

KUCHING: The Agrofest 2024 will be larger with more programmes, activities, and vendors participating than this year.

Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, said that given the success of Agrofest this year, his ministry has advocated for the next Agrofest to be expanded.

“With that, the Cabinet has agreed to make it bigger and I would also like to thank Premier (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg) for doubling our funding for Agrofest next year,” he said during the closing ceremony of Agrofest 2023 at Dataran Perayaan, Jalan Stadium, Petra Jaya here today.

In addition, he disclosed that the Premier has agreed to the mini Agrofest across Sarawak’s districts.

“It wouldn’t be as big as we have here but we will organised them in areas such as Pakan, Limbang, and so on,” he said.

Reflecting on the recently concluded Agrofest, Dr Rundi said a robust turnout of over 300,000 attendees.

“Our vendors registered sales surpassing RM 2 million,” he said.
