KUCHING: The state level committee of the Malaysia Day 2022 celebration paid a courtesy call to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in Demak Jaya here on Today (Sept 12).

The committee was led by the Minister of Agriculture Modernisation and Regional Development, Datuk Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom.

“The purpose of the visit was to invite Tun Taib and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib to attend the official celebration of Malaysia Day on September 16, at 7pm at the Old Bintulu Airport,” said Rundi.

He also informed that among the events planned for the morning was a 20-kilometer cycling event which will also be attended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“In the evening after the official event, there will be a Malaysia Day concert such as a cultural dance and a singing performance by local artistes,” he added.

Accompanying him on the courtesy visit were State Secretary Datuk Sri Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Transport (Aviation and Roads) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Nancy Jolhi, Deputy Resident of Bintulu Division Hussaini Hakim, Deputy Minister of Transport (Rivers and Seas) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.

Later, Taib received another courtesy visit this time from Sarawak Federal Secretary Datuk Amir Omar. During the visit, Amir stated that he will retire on September 26 after serving for one year and six months in Sarawak.

He also expressed his gratitude for the support of Taib and the Sarawak government during his service in the state and hoped that it would continue to progress under the leadership of the Premier. At the same time, he hoped that the cooperation between the state and federal governments will continue.
