KUCHING: A 56-year-old man tragically lost his life in a car crash at Jalan Stapok Utama on Thursday night around 10.15 pm when the car he was driving skidded off the road.
Fortunately, two passengers, a man and a woman, survived the crash.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters arrived at the scene at 10.22 pm. They found the man trapped in the driver’s seat.
Before firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya fire station arrived, onlookers had already helped the two surviving passengers in getting out of the car.
Using special equipment, the team managed to remove the driver from the vehicle.
After being checked by paramedics, the driver was declared dead at the scene.
Following this, the police took the deceased man’s body to the Sarawak General Hospital for further investigation.
The two other survivors were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Bomba concluded their operation by 11.04 pm.
