Man nabbed with drugs worth over RM4,300

SIBU: Police arrested a 31-year-old man and seized 79.77 grams of drugs worth over RM4,300 at Jalan Pasai Siong Hilir on Monday (Jan 15).

District police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the man was nabbed by officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigations Department (NCID) around 2.30 pm.

“Inspection found two purple packets suspected to contain approximately 55.77 grams of ecstasy powder, 20 small transparent plastic packages containing white crystals suspected to be ketamine, with an estimated gross weight of 20.50 grams.

“Also found were 10 blue pills suspected to be ecstasy pills, with an estimated gross weight of 3.50 grams.” he said in a statement today (Jan 16).

Zulkipli said the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine/benzodiazepines.

“The suspect was remanded for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he added.

If convicted under Section 39B, the suspect may face the death penalty.

Meanwhile, if convicted under Section 15(1) (a), the suspect may be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed for a term up to two years or both, and be placed under supervision for two years under Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
