Kuching police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani urged tourists and locals not to be swayed by pretty faces posted on social media as they could be fake profiles.

He said this is the latest modus operandi used by robbers. He believed that there were other cases but the victims were too embarrassed to lodge police reports.

Awang Din also urged the public to inform the police immediately of crime cases so that action could be taken
swiftly and the suspects nabbed.

Meanwhile, the five will be charged under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery. They face a maximum of 20 years’ jail and whipping if convicted.
