BAU: A lorry driver sustained serious injuries after he allegedly stabbed himself with a kitchen knife at the Keranji quarry workers’ quarters yesterday (Mar 13).

DSP Poge Nyaon, the Bau police chief, said a team rushed to the scene of the incident after they received a call at 4.30 pm.

“The 35-year-old suspect was found to have allegedly stabbed himself in the chest and stomach with a kitchen knife.

“He was later rushed to Bau Hospital for treatment and his condition is reported to be stable.

“He will be referred to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment,” he said.

Poge said police seized a knife used by the suspect.

It remains unclear exactly how the stabbing occurred.
