Man with syabu and Erimin pills arrested

KUCHING: A 37-year-old substance abuse suspect was arrested in front of a local hotel.

He was apprehended by personnel from Kuching Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (BSJND) around 1.30 am on Sunday.

Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid said the suspect who was unaware of the police was carrying a bag containing syabu and Erimin 5.

The street value of the ‘syabu’ and Erimin 5 seized from the suspect was RM1,674.

“The brown bag contained two transparent plastic packs containing 5.36 grammes of syabu and 29 Erimin 5 pills weighing 7.74 grammes. The total valued amounted to RM1,674,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that suspect’s urine tested for were also found to be positive amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for imprisonment not more than five years and whipping not more than nine times.
