MIRI: The Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) flew seven Ministry of Health (MOH) staff to Long Lamai to conduct Covid-19 swab tests on the residents there.

Miri DDMC on Thursday (June 3) said the first flight on aircraft AW139 (9M-BOD) owned by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) departed at 9.17am.

“They arrived safely at 10.27am. The swab tests were conducted following one positive case detected through active case detection (ACD) by Miri MoH involving a woman who returned to Miri after attending her mother’s funeral in Long Lamai two weeks ago.

“The close contacts were identified for the swab tests and they were placed at a quarantine centre in Miri while waiting for the results.”

Miri DDMC said the MoH and Bomba were doing  detailed investigation, and the next cause of action after the team’s mission ended later Thursday.

“We would like to once again remind the public to remain vigilant and always comply strictly with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in preventing the spread of Covid-19.”
