Mini centre opens on April 30

SIBU: Persatuan Masyarakat Sungai Teku Aup Pasai, Sibu has set up its mini sport and recreation centre at No.7J, Lorong Bougenvilla Timur 2D, Mile 8 1/2 Ulu Oya for the usage of its members and the public.

According to its chairman Hii Liong Teck, the centre encompasses a variety of playful ways towards physical and mental health form of activities as well as relaxation.

“With an aesthetic setting environment, the place also provides a kind of leisure life for friends to gather, chat together and seek healthy life satisfaction.  A host of facilities are available including camping, karaoke, games and so on,” he said at a press conference at his office in Jalan Bako here yesterday.

Also present were the association’s legal advisor Ting Cheng Ching and secretary Ngui Chong Hie.

He said the centre is expected to be declared open by Sibu Member of Parliament Oscar Ling Chai Yew on April 30 at 6 pm.

Hii said he is also planning to set up a nursing home, a kindergarten/childcare and an indoor stadium for the use of Bougenvilla housing estate and the residents at the surrounding housing areas.

“We have been approached by the residents on the lack of nursing home and kindergarden/childcare centre at the area.  We are keen and sincere to alleviate difficulties in the community by offering relevant services to care for the aged folks as well as educating and looking after the children when their parents are away at work.

“We strongly believe that by having these facilities in the area, it will make a great difference to the standard quality of living of the community in the area as well as offering more job opportunities to today’s youth,” he pointed out.

Furthermore, Hii said another plan is also being carried out to turn the area into a beautiful landscaped park where the community could relax, gather and exercise.

Presently, the association has more than 150 members.
