MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) has placed 49 roll-on roll-off (RORO) bins at housing estates in anticipation of the huge volumes of domestic and bulky waste during the upcoming Hari Raya Puasa celebration.

The bins are placed at 36 strategic locations to enable residents in the area to dispose of waste. The locartions are Taman Tunku/Lambir Zone, Jalan Luak-Bakam Zone, Jalan Riam/Lopeng Zone, Krokop/Piasau Zone, Pujut Zone, Piasau Utara/Tudan Zone, Senadin Zone, Permyjaya Zone, and Lutong/Kuala Baram Zone.

A clearing campaign will be launched from April 1 to 20.

MCC appealed to residents to make use of the bins and refrain from dumping rubbish indiscriminately, especially on road verges, road reserves or open spaces as this will not only become an eyesore, but also create potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other diseases-bearing insects.

The public can contact the council’s office at 085-433501 or Public Cleansing and Maintenance Section (085-442411).
