Miri to host international congress on climate change in November

KUCHING: An International Congress on Impacts of Climate Change on Agriculture, Ecosystems and Human Health (ICCC) will be held in Miri from Nov 16 to 18 this year.

The congress, organised by Universiti Teknologi Mara’s (UiTM) international partner in India, V Sivaram Research Foundation (VSRF), and co-organised along with Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu (UPM), Swinburne Sarawak, and Curtin Malaysia is to create an open space for networking to exchange information and knowledge on the matters concerned.

With that, a team of delegates from UiTM Sarawak led by Rector Professor Datuk Dr Jamil Hamali, accompanied by Deputy Rector Professor Dr Firdaus Abdullah and Professor Dr Khong Heng Yen paid a courtesy call on Minister for Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom at the State Legislative Assembly Building (DUN) on Monday (March 21).

The purpose of the visit was to inform and seek Dr Rundi’s consent on being the patron of the congress.

Dr Rundi agreed and would be officiating at the opening ceremony on Nov 16.
