MIRI: City residents not only have to endure snakes, including pythons and deadly cobras, they also have to put up with monitor lizards.

A woman was surprised to see a half-metre-long monitor lizard in the living room of her house at Jalan Delonit Krokop 8 here yesterday (June 21).

Alarmed by the presence of the uninvited visitor, the 30-year-old wasted no time and immediately contacted the Civil Defence Force (APM) Miri for assistance.

Upon receiving a distress call around 6.30pm, four members were deployed to the scene to handle the peculiar situation.

They found the reptile hiding underneath the living room table.

The lizard, resembling the size of a child’s arm, was swiftly captured and released into its natural habitat, away from the residential area.
