GOTCHA: An APM personnel secures the lizard.

MIRI: A woman in her 20s was shocked and terrified to find a one-and a-half- foot long monitor lizard hiding inside the toilet of her house in Piasau Garden on Saturday night (March 2).

The lizard was hanging out of the bowl of the squat toilet of the house before it crawled out.

Fearing for her family’s safety, the woman immediately alerted her 36-year-old brother.

“That night, around 7.15pm I went to the toilet. As I opened the door to the bathroom, I saw that lizard,” said the woman who wished to remain anonymous.

“My brother and I tried to get rid of it, but were unsuccessful, so we decided to lock the door and call for help,” she said.

Three Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel responded to the alert at 7.36pm.

It took them less than 15 minute to catch the reptile.
