KUCHING: Students taking express buses to go back to their hometowns for Gawai Dayak Festival this time around are doing their ticket bookings online.

This was revealed by Mohd Suria Suhai, a cargo delivery and tickets promoter with Syarikat Bus Baram Sdn Bhd when met at Kuching Sentral Regional Express Bus Terminal here yesterday.

He disclosed since May 28, a lot of people have started doing their bookings and taking express buses to go back to their respective hometowns.

“There are 15 express bus companies and each express bus company has buses departing every half an hour from Kuching daily,” he said.

At 10pm, he said, each bus company has three buses departing from Kuching. Meanwhile, the last buses that depart from Kuching daily are Biaramas and Borneo Highway.

He said those who come to buy ticket for the last bus or 10.30pm bus will no chance of getting seats as the bus will be full.

“They will have to come back the next day,” he said.

According to him, most passengers are headed to Sibu. Suria also said that most passengers choose to travel between 6am to 12pm and 7pm to 10.30pm.
