MPP office bearers’ term extended until year-end

KUCHING: The term of for office bearers of the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) was extended until the end of the year.

Its chairman Lo Khere Chiang was sworn in before Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian during a ceremony earlier today (July 20) at the council building’s chamber.

Also sworn in was MPP deputy chairman, Senator Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim and 21 councillors. New face, Chen Chee Joong, was also sworn in as councilor, replacing Wilfred Yap who is currently Kota Sentosa assemblyman.

Lo who is Batu Kitang assemblyman urged councilors and staff to continue to work together as a team to achieve the council’s objective to serve the people under its administration.

“We are fortunate to able to serve the community of various racial and religious under MPP.

“We, as a council, represent a wide array of constituents, from domestic workers to large corporation in the city.

“Every constituency deserves equity and fairness under the law. That is our job, to implement and execute this responsibility,” said Lo during his speech.

He also mentioned that some 250 projects have been implemented every year by MPP and that he was looking forward to serve and implement community projects in the future.

Lo commended the councilors and the staff for continuing to serve and work very hard on the ground to ensure MPP policy manage to hit the target timely.

The MPP chairman also emphasised to strive for better service for stakeholders and customers for their benefit.
