KUCHING: Fostering gender equality and creating a society where every woman is empowered is important to unleash her full potential.

In stating this, Women, Early Childhood and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said in today’s world where strong voices of women have been equally significant in determining major policy decisions, it is essential to create new platforms that cultivate and nurture women’s talents.

Having that in mind, she stated that her ministry together with Women Leadership Foundation and Huawei had collaborated in organising the Sarawak Women of Tomorrow (SWOT) 2023 Bootcamp to empower women through comprehensive training in leadership, entrepreneurship, ethics, governance and foresight technology.

“We learn to acknowledge that leadership knows no gender. It is a quality that resides within each one of us, waiting to be ignited and nurtured.

“This programme recognises the power of women’s leadership and seeks to provide them with the knowledge, skills and support needed to thrive in a constantly evolving world.

“Through mentorship, training, and community building, we aim to create a network of trailblazing women who will inspire, motivate and transform their communities,” she said.

She said this when officiating at the Sarawak Women of Tomorrow 2023 at Pullman Hotel here on Sunday (June 11).

She pointed out that this programme will continue to provide more opportunities for women to unite, share experiences, build networks and inspire one another.

It is a platform for personal growth, professional development, and forging lifelong friendships.

“With more than 20 esteemed speakers and moderators from various industries gathered here, the invaluable wealth of knowledge and expertise and practical insights shared will undoubtedly enrich the learning experience and empower our participants to navigate the challenges and opportunities they will encounter on their leadership journey,” she said.

Fatimah noted that the presence of speakers and moderators demonstrates the collaborative effort required to empower women and advance gender equality in Sarawak.

“By uniting voices from diverse backgrounds and industries, we create a space where innovation thrives, ideas are shared and participants are inspired to reach new heights.

“We must recognise that true leadership is not about power and control, but rather about empowering others to rise alongside us.

“As we embark on this Women Leadership Programme, let us pledge to dismantle the barriers that hold women back.

“Let us work tirelessly to build a society where gender equality is not just a lofty ideal, but a lived reality. Let us empower women to take their rightful place at the table of leadership, creating a future that is equitable, inclusive and prosperous for all,” she added.
